Original Norwegian TP-6N Field Telephone

The TP-6N Field Telephone was developed in the early 1970s for use by the Norwegian and Dutch armed forces. With a voice range of up to 22 miles, the telephone was a major improvement on previous systems and remained in service for many years.

The telephone is a lightweight, waterproof electronic unit with either a push-button or rotary dial unit. It consists of an olive-green H-67N-type handset and an olive-green case with printed circuit board and batteries. The handset is moulded from reinforced plastic and the case is aluminium alloy which makes the unit lighweight yet provides excellent durability in field conditions.

The handset includes a microphone, earphone and press-to-talk switch. A belt-clip on the side allows it to be easily attached to equipment for easy access. The earphone end of the handset is shaped to fit under a helmet. The microphone and the earphone are identical insets. An incoming call will be heard as a wobble-tone.

The telephone requires 3 D cell alkaline batteries which provide an excellent amount of talk time thanks to the unit's low power consumption design. We are unsure as to the exact battery life but sources suggest that with moderate use 3 D cell batteries will power the unit for over a month.

The telephone comes in a specially designed olive green canvas pouch with a shoulder strap for easy portability. Including the batteries and pouch, the unit weighs approximately just 1750 g and is highly portable.

Please bear in mind that these are issued surplus and although they are all in a decent condition, we do not have the opportunity to test them all so we can't confirm that they're immediately operational.
