Lovely Western Anatolian Turkish Wool Pile Rug-Aydin Province.It comes within great pile condition for a collector or enthusiast .it measures 17"×3".This beautiful antique rug is of hand spun wool pile symmetrically hand knotted on solid cotton foundation warps on hand spun ivory wool wefts .

This rare item was knotted on the family loom by a Turkish nomad weaver from Aydin -Afyon province where we always used to dye yarn with simple , natural dyes :This part of Turkey is being always remote area and surrounded by several large lakes , rivers and Mountains ;this might be one of the reason its textiles and rugs were unknown to the Western Markets .

This wonderful item displays tribal patterns and central medallion ,simple and naive .I believe you will be amazed by its muted natural dyes and joyful colors. I hope This will be be your first folk-art from the western part of Turkey .
