Pearls were one of the most popular items of jewellery in the Tudor era and were worn by both Ann Boleyn and her daughter Queen Elizabeth I. Pearls were worn in a string or as a single pearl or a combination of both.

Historians believe Anne Boleyn was born c.1501 / 1507 at Blickling Hall. She spent most of her childhood at Hever Castle which was her family home. In January 1533 she became Queen of England when she married King Henry VIII.

On May 2nd 1536 Anne was arrested for high treason. She was found guilty and was beheaded on May 19th that same year.

This exquisite pearly necklace is a replica of the 'B' initial pendant worn by Anne Bolyn and seen in many of her portraits.
