Combat Infantryman 2nd Award

Description

Established on 15 November 1943, the Combat Infantryman Badge is awarded to US soldiers for being present, and under hostile fire while serving in an infantry or special forces unit actively engaging the enemy in ground combat after 6th December 1941.

In order to qualify for the 2nd award, a soldier would have to have served in ground combat in two of the following 4 periods of combat:

- WW2

- The Korean War

- The Vietnam War and other conflicts up to 1995

- The Global War on Terrorism from 2001 onward

For example, a soldier participating in ground combat in WW2 and the Korean War would receive the 2nd award of the Combat Infantryman Badge. However, a soldier serving in Afghanistan and Iraq (since 2003) would only qualify for the 1st award as both conflicts fall into the same period of eligibility.

These badges are made from great quality blue enamel and metal and are excellent reproductions of the originals. They come with two clutch pins on the back.
