Canon EOS 80D 715nm Standard Infrared Converted Camera!

Infrared photography opens up an unseen world of beauty and never-ending surprise. Up for bid is a Canon EOS 80D. The internal IR cut filter has been removed and replaced with a 715/720nm longpass filter. This filter blocks most visible light and allows near IR and IR light to be recorded by the CMOS sensor.

The results? You’ll have a camera that will capture infrared images without the need for long exposures or the need for a tripod. With the 715nm filter in place, this camera is sensitive to just a small amount of visible light in the red spectrum. The results is just enough color saturation for false color IR. BnW IR can be captured by converting to B+W using software or the cameras built in B+W mode. I provide a tutorial and the software to do this. The first picture in my listing is what your image will look like with red and blue channels swapped, hue, saturation, brightness, and contrast adjusted.

Sporting a new, higher-resolution 24MP sensor, a faster processor and a beefed-up 45-point AF system, the Canon 80D builds upon foundation laid out by the 70D and its excellent Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology. The 80D performs very well on multiple fronts, including better dynamic range and detail a lower ISOs, better higher ISO performance and more versatile autofocus.

The myth of the ‘retained dust reduction system’: Using clear glass to replace the fluorine coated ultrasonic shake filter originally used is a gimmick. Clear glass adds another layer of reflectivity and distortion to your images.  And dust will electrostatically ‘stick’ to uncoated clear glass regardless of how many times you actuate the ultrasonic shake filter. The fluorine coating on the original shake filter reduces reflectivity and distortion, and reduced the static attraction between the dust and the shake filter allowing for the filter to drop the dust when activated. Unfortunately it also filters IR and reflects some UV and has to be removed.  I don’t sell gimmicks, just the finest converted cameras in the world.

The camera’s condition: This camera is a new USA Canon unit used only to test the quality of the conversion. The camera is mechanically perfect. The viewfinder is clear. The LCD has no dead pixels and the rear TFT cover is as new. Cosmetically, the body’s condition is as new with no evidence of wear or use (but please see my pictures as they are my description). The autofocus has been adjusted and tested and is GUARANTEED f/1.8 sharp with the 50mm Mk2 and should perform similarly with most Canon lenses.
