This auction is for two Tubes. DOW U428+ Is a high viscosity adhesive or very thick glue so we suggest using a professional caulking gun or Power gun when applying to a vehicle. If you are using a standard caulking gun or a hand pump please make sure and preheat the tubes between 10-15 minutes with a heat gun or hair dryer.
Speed Installations by Eliminating Priming Step
U-428 Plus adhesive are one-component, conventional-cure adhesives.
They eliminate steps and speed installations by incorporating glass primer into
the urethane. They are primerless to glass and require only BETAPRIME™
5404A primer if the metal is scratched during glass removal, or when bonding to
encapsulations or pre-applied adhesive systems (PAAS). Both products provide
improved decking, even in hot weather.
Conventional-cure adhesives like U-428 Plus adhesiverely on
temperature, humidity and time to cure. The water in the air causes a chemical
reaction in the adhesive. The adhesive bead cures from the outside to the center
as the moisture diffuses into the adhesive. The curing bonds the adhesive to the
substrates and existing bead of urethane adhesive.
Applications
Structurally bonded or direct glazed automotive glass, such as windshields,
backlites, quarter glass and other stationary glass
Other uses, such as attaching hardware to glass and backfilling to install
reveal moldings or other trim
When using 428 plus on installing auto glass, you must use 5404 primer on the pinchweld only when bare metal or scratches are in the pinchweld. Primer will stop corrosion, rust and will bond the urethane to the glass to standards. We sell the primer as well if your situation requires it. If bonding urethane to a complete Bare Metal then BETAPRIME 5201 Bare Metal Etch Primer should be applied following the 5404 primer for proper bond.
