American studio pottery bowl, deeply tapered conical bowl with small foot, well potted with ray like effect on exterior. White with black and red, signed K.E underbase (Kathy Erteman). 
 
Measures 7" X 9 3/4".
Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs.

Kathy Erteman was born and raised in Southern California. She began making ceramics as a teenager in a Los Angeles studio. She pursued academics at UCLA but returned to the studio after a short time and received her BFA in Ceramics from California State University Long Beach. She interned with Judy Chicago on the Dinner Party after graduation.

In 1994 Erteman moved to New York City and now divides her time between upstate NY and New York City. 

Erteman’s work has been exhibited internationally and is included in private and public collections including Renwick Gallery/Smithsonian Institute, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Taipei Museum of Fine Arts and SC Johnson Collection. 

A full time studio artist she also designs tableware for companies such as Tiffany, Crate and Barrel, and Dansk. Kathy has taught at Parsons Scool of Design and been a guest lecturer at The Brooklyn Museum, Bezalel Academy of Art, Jerusalem, SUNY New Paltz, and currently teaches at Greenwich House Pottery in New York City.

She travels to Yunnan Chaina periodically to work with Tibetan Potters as a Design Consultant and Cultural Preservation Advocate.

Erteman was recently awarded a Professional Fellows Cultural Exchange Fulbright in partnership with Aid to Artisans to work with Tibetan potters in Yunnan, China.
