This is an very important   and rare marble Carrara base that was originally ordered by Napoleon himself for the astronomical clock that was made by Breguet   .The clock that was standing on  this fine hand carved marble has sold recently by Christies Auction  House at New York sale number 11628 on  April 19th -2016 and the lot number  is 200 that sold for $425,000.00 .This marble base originally was made for that clock  and came together. This base and the clock that was sold is said was duplicate of original circa 1750 that is in Versailles and made for Louis XV private apartment and later Lord Hertford order similar for his apartment in Rue Laffitte .This is original base that belongs to that heavy unique clock and made by  "Goet"(Charles Couet).There is also an sketch available that this marble base is original made for that clock that was sold separately . This circa 1800-1810 hand-carved Carrera marble base  and the clock that was sold was a gift to his right hand General Muratt that eventually married to Napoleon sister  .There is also an sketch of the clock of the base and the clock together and real picture of this base and clock(Please look at the pictures).This marble base is very heavy and weighs around 1500 pounds .The marble base  is in very good condition with gorgeous graduating levels .It has some tiny dings on the lowest level due to the age(Please look at the pictures).
