This is a great opportunity to buy this version of this big tank over 30 years after Tamiya's original release of the first Gepard kits.

Originally released in the 1970s as a radio controlled model, Tamiya's big 1/16 scale Gepard has made a return as an assembly kit display plastic & metal model. This imposing model faithfully captures the self-propelled AA gun's impressive details. The tracking radar is movable and can be depicted in traveling position, while the surveillance radar rotates 360° and can be depicted in stowed position. The Gepard featured the most advanced anti-aircraft system of its time, and in upgraded form, is still in service with several militaries today. The German Flakpanzer Gepard featured the most advanced anti-aircraft fire control system at that time. It used the Leopard chassis and was equipped with a turret with two Oerlikon 35mm guns which had a maximum firing rate of 550 rpm and a range of 4,000m. The computerized firing system included tracking and surveillance radars which provided excellent target detection and firing accuracy. Production of the Gepard began in 1975 and they were deployed with the German army as well as exported to the Netherlands, Belgium, Romania, and Chile.
