Here we have a fabulous retro-style silk dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs. It reminds me of something that Barbara Stanwyck or Jean Harlow would have worn in the movies. During the depression era these women didn't shy away from a plunging neckline;) You can actually adjust the neckline to deeper or more shallow with the functional button accents. If old Hollywood glamour is your thing, you'll love this dress!! Now on to the condition issues.. I put this beautiful garment in my washing machine after wearing it once and the hem fell out. Also one of the sleeves needs to be re-tacked in the armpit. That will be a quick fix. The hem is serged at the bottom and really doesn't look bad the way it is. I probably wouldn't bother fixing it. You get an extra inch and a half of length that way too. Also, the silk shows some signs of wash-wear, especially on the left sleeve (see last picture). Perhaps that just adds to the vintage appeal, it looks like it's really 80 years old:) Measurements are 16" pit-to-pit and 39" or 40.5" shoulder-to-hem (depending on whether you measure to the original hem or not). Thanks for your interest and check out my other items for more MJ, MK and more!!
