Shutter speeds sound healthy - long speeds whir without hesitation and fast speeds are crisp. Shutter has typical healthy Pentax solid sound, without any hesitation or dryness. Lightmeter is accurate and its readings match those of my hand-held Gossen meter (battery will not be shipped with the camera). Film transport mechanism was checked with film and is working correctly, as is the film counter. After exposure, the lightmeter switch returns to its starting position smoothly and effortlessly - this is an issue often overlooked on older Spotmatics. The mirror damper and all light seals around the back door were replaced with longer lasting neoprene material - forgetting to check this common problem issue can lead to serious light leaks, malfunctions and potential additional expense.
Cosmetically, the camera is in excellent condition, with superficial signs of use - there is a faint ID number on the base plate, left by the original owner (so faint that it is very hard to find and practically impossible to photograph). There is no brassing, no dents or scratches; leatherette body covering is in excellent condition. Battery compartment is clean without any signs of corrosion. The included images are an excellent indication of the camera’s cosmetics. If necessary, I can email the winning bidder a PDF file with a copy of the original Pentax instruction manual - please ask when submitting payment after the end of the auction.
