The Gears Will Fit Kitchenaid 5QT Bowl Lift And Artisan Tilt Head Mixers.

It is advisable to change the grease after a worm gear failure to prevent further damage.

Normally when the planetary stops turning, 

but the motor is still running, then gear has broken.

Which is generally caused by mixing a 'heavy load'
