inspired by the classic, unique, vocal & musical sweep of the 70s colorsound / musonic wahs.

many people have told us that their favorite vintage wah was a 70s colorsound. they have a unique throaty sound and bright 'squish' in the top end that is unlike any other wah, due to key differences in the mechanicals and the wah circuit itself.
NOT JUST a crybaby or vox clone, the engineers used a nylon hoop mechanism & linear taper pot, which accelerates treble at end of sweep for a funky quack. the circuit itself was altered to accommodate this sweep factor. attempts to clone this classic have always had limitations, TIL NOW!

PROBLEM ~ ~ a lot of the originals are very worn out. the shell was a tin can, the axle holes get gored beyond any hope of precision, and the original weak pots are usually worn and scratchy.

solution! now, we have duplicated and improved this circuit for present day RELIABLE use.

we have rebuilt, modded and restored 400+ vintage wahs. among these were many colorsounds and musonics ( US made version of same circuit). we have measured , played, and experimented for 3 years to perfect this circuit.

colorsounds are famous for their awesome musical sweep. a '70s bonanza of wah delight! this wah has it.

features:

-new or near new parts, except the circuit board, which is recycled from a tested working dunlop GCB 95 wah.

-unique 'BODY' knob neatly tucked under the treadle lets you control the fatness of the tone, even at full treble! you must try this control to believe what it does. ( note ,  our videos sometimes do not show this, a newer feature)

-red fasel inductor, revoiced and modded by gagan for a more authentic re-creation of the 70s originals.

-trubypass wire carefully woven into the stock harness.

-quality mini dpdt tru-bypass switch. ( not shown in photos)

-new, special taper 50k GAGAN smooth pot, RV4 spec heavy duty, with specially modded large gear installed to mimic the feel and response of the 70s originals. no one we know of has successfully duplicated the unique colorsound taper& sound that results from their use of the rod and hoop actuators of the originals til now. THE TREBLE COMES ON AT VERY END, like a secret weapon, a little odd but once you get used to it you will wonder how you ever played other wahs.* see note, option 3 for other pot option.

-no buffers, not needed with our bypass circuit. gets the sound back to its original 60s unbuffered 'pure' wah tone.

-3 trimpots:
marked with our preferred setting so you can always get back to the original tone

-these make the wah fully adjustable for volume matching and full growl. this allows you to tailor the response to any pickups or guitar, bass ,etc.   ~~~anything from stock colorsound sweetness all the way to funkified nasty growl ( and many in between!) , all available in the settings. feel free to contact us anytime for help in setting these if needed, we love to talk wahs.

-special vintage low gain silicon transistor in the critical Q1 spot specially selected for correct '70s low gain- no more harsh highs.

-expensive metallized poly and other high quality caps in key tone path locations.

-standard 9V power jack for use with power supply, also uses 9v battery with high quality clip.

-BONUS! unique output arrangement in this circuit works EXCELLENT going into any fuzz without the need for crappy buffers, which in our opinion ruin classic wah tone.
