Of course, aged, faded photographs with all their blemishes and discolorations do have their place. But take all those imperfections away and you get something very different when you look at a photo that's been restored to its original condition. You're suddenly transported back to a bygone era. You see the world as it really was back then, in vivid detail, through the photographer's eyes, with everything clear, sharp, fresh and alive



Even professional scans of original negatives and transparencies reproduce the dust, scratches and defects. And typically, when you buy reproductions of old photos you'll buy a photo with all those defects included

Why buy a restored photograph instead of an old original print?



There's no doubt that tattered, faded antique photos possess a certain charm

Look at an original print of 70 years old or more and you'll be in no doubt that it's something from long ago. The artefacts, blemishes and discolorations of an old print have a way of putting the distance of time between you and the subject



But here are a few things to consider before you pay a huge premium for an antique photo:-



70-80 years is about the normal lifespan of a photographic print. Beyond that they tend to degrade rapidly. So ideally, they should be stored in a dark, dry and cool environment and not out in the open or on display


If you want to recreate a truly authentic, period-atmosphere then sharp, new looking photographs from that era will bring you far closer to the original look and feel than aged, worn out prints. Think about it - what would you use on your walls and table tops if you were a movie director recreating a scene from that era on film?


Most important of all, if you want a picture of an actor, musician or historical figure you love or admire, a restored photograph helps you see your hero accurately and vividly, as he or she really was. It does a far better job of transporting you back in time than a fragile faded relic that really needs to be kept out of sight to avoid damage

Import duties, taxes and charges



At the time of listing this item I am not aware of any import charges or duties on regular retail sized purchases of photographs and other printed material going to the USA, Canada, Europe or the UK



But any such charges are ultimately your responsibility

Photo packaging



It is very important to me that your photos arrive in the best possible condition



Photos sized 8x10 or A4 are enclosed in their own individual cellophane sleeves for protection. The sleeves are acid and lignin free so they will not damage your photos




Your photos are then packed in high quality, purpose made stiff cardboard photo mailers that are 90% recycled paper




The mailers are labeled front and back 'Photographs - Do not Bend'




All packages are clearly labeled with your eBay shipping address




Shipping Time

Your photos will be processed and in the mail within 1-2 working days after your payment has cleared

Large orders may take longer to process considering I spend up to 1 hour restoring/enhancing each photo



Arrival times will vary depending on your location and distance from Australia

Delivery to mainland USA, Canada and Europe/UK usually takes 5-10 working days. In extreme cases or holiday periods it can take up to 14 days
