Franzis Maker Kit Minecraft

Programming Projects With The Raspberry Pi

Minecraft is one of the world's most popular computer games. The open 3D game world in which anybody can build landscapes
from cube-shaped blocks and fulfill his own dreams has captivated more than 100 million of players so far.

Besides the well-known versions for PC, iOS and other systems, Minecraft is also available for the widely-used mini computer
Raspberry Pi. This version offers one big advantage: With the help of an open programming interface plugins can be created in the
Python programming language which has been pre-installed of the Raspberry Pi. And the Minecraft world can also be modified via external
hardware. For example, LEDs can be controlled via the game character Steve, and blocks in the game world can be illuminated using sensor contacts made of modelling clay.

The Franzis Maker Kit includes 14 programming projects for Minecraft on the Raspberry Pi, many of them with hardware control. All necessary components are included in the pack. The programmes run both on the Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 with the current version of the Raspbian operating system.
A comprehensive manual with numerous colour illustrations provides detailed step-by-step instructions - there are no limits to either the programming experience of the gaming fun!

Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world - even though it has no real gameplay. The open game world in which everyone can build landscapes and realize their own dreams fascinates over 100 million players worldwide. The gameplay is composed of the two English terms mine (=mining, raw material extraction) and craft (=processing). And that's what Minecraft is all about: removing raw materials from the landscape and transforming them into new landscapes or objects.

In addition to the familiar versions for PC and various game consoles. Minecraft is also available on the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi version offers a great advantage. It is programmable via a specially developed interface in the programming language Python. Python is also preinstalled on the Raspberry Pi and allows the control of external hardware among other things. On the Raspberry Pi it is possible to flash with Minecraft LEDs or to control the game figure "Steve" with hardware buttons and sensor contacts.

This learning package contains several programming projects for Minecraft on the Raspberry Pi, many of them with hardware control. The required components are included in the package. All programs work with the Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 and the current version of the operating system Raspbian.
