Fujifilm X-T1 Standard Infrared Converted Camera
Infrared photography opens up an unseen world of beauty and never-ending surprise. Up for bid is a Fuji X-T1. The internal IR hot filter has been removed and replaced with a 720nm longpass filter. This filter blocks most visible light and allows near IR and IR light to be recorded by the X Tran sensor.
The results? You’ll have a camera that will capture infrared images without the need for long exposures or the need for a tripod. With the standard 720nm filter in place, this camera is sensitive to a tiny bit of visible light in the red spectrum. The results are just enough color saturation for false color IR with the preserved ability to capture standard IR images by converting to B+W using software or the Fuji’s built in B+W mode. I provide a tutorial and the software to do this.
The result is what you see in the first picture in my listing which was taken with a camera exactly like this one. This is what you get with the WB set on green grass, red and blue channel swapped, and hue and saturation adjusted (I send a tutorial to show you how to do this).
The X-T1 is the sixth model to employ Fujifilm's X-mount and its innovative X-Trans sensor, but rather than updating an existing model, the X-T1 kicks-off a new category. With its mini DSLR styling and centrally-positioned viewfinder hump, it's the most traditional-looking of the X series although Fujifilm hasn't forgotten the controls and technologies which have made it so successful in the mirrorless market. Embracing retro even more so than previous models, the X-T1 sports no less than five analogue dials on the top surface, dedicated to the shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, drive mode and metering mode. These are complemented by front and rear soft dials along with six customizable function buttons.
The myth of the ‘retained dust reduction system’: Using clear glass to replace the fluorine coated ultrasonic shake filter originally used is a gimmick. Clear glass adds another layer of reflectivity and distortion to your images. And dust will electrostatically ‘stick’ to uncoated clear glass regardless of how many times you actuate the ultrasonic shake filter. The fluorine coating on the original shake filter reduces reflectivity and distortion, and reduced the static attraction between the dust and the shake filter allowing for the filter to drop the dust when activated. Unfortunately it also filters IR and reflects some UV and has to be removed. I don’t sell gimmicks, just the finest converted cameras in the world.
The camera’s condition: This is a used camera that will come to you in like new condition. Operation is smooth and all buttons and functions have been tested. Cosmetically, the body’s condition is as new with no evidence of use (please see my pictures for the details as they are my description on cosmetics). The autofocus is tested and this camera is GUARANTEED wide open sharp with all X mount lenses.
