CIRCA: 1937

Buffalo nickels were in circulation in the USA from 1913-1938.

Many times 'hobos' would carve these nickels using crude tools and trade them for a meal or sell them at a profit.

 

This coin is hand carved nickel by SteveOrino, who is a present day artist. His illustrations and cartoons have graced the pages of Saturday Evening Post, TV Guide, Better Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping, Woman's World, Christianity Today and hundreds of other publications. His new favorite medium is the "Hobo Nickel"
