Model South Bend SB1263 taper attachment. Assembled. I wiped off the cosmoline for the photos. Unused and new from the manufacturer came back to a distributor as manufacturer overstock. Assembled and the body moves smoothly across the table without backlash or resistance. I saw no burs on the dovetails or problems with the operation of the sliding parts. Will arrive shipped with items in the photos. See photos. There is a scratch on the degree badge from handling but otherwise is fine cosmetically. Lacks the deadman arm, which can be fabricated or purchased from Southbend/Grizzly. See photos.

Shipping is free local pickup, or actual cost for freight which buyer must set up but I am happy to accommodate. Pickup is from a residential machine shop with a dolly. But it is light enough to carry. Semi access if needed. UPS and FedEx daily service. Box is 85lbs., and is 26x12x10”. UPS and Fedex will take it, but I believe a contract freight company would be cheaper unless you live very close to Nashville 37221. Is packed and secured and padded in a wooden crate. Easy to hand lift.

SB1263—Taper Attachment

This taper attachment mounts quickly to the 

back bedway of your lathe. Accurate tapers of 

up to 12" can be produced without repositioning 

the attachment, having to offset the tailstock, 

or disengaging the cross slide nut. The Model 

SB1263 features scales at both ends, reading 

inches-per-foot and degrees. An angle adjusting 

knob with fine threads achieves exacting control 

when setting tapers.

This Taper Attachment for 13", 14", and 16" Lathes features an inches-per-foot scale and a degree scale. An angle adjusting knob with fine threads achieves precise control when setting tapers. Another feature is the ability to use the taper attachment without disengaging the cross slide nut. This design allows the taper attachment to be functional at any time by simply tightening the two deadman clamp cap screws, which lock the deadman clamp to the rear lathe way.
