RECLINING NUDE PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN


An original 1934 oil on canvas/panel painting by Dora Crockett (Countess Lewenhaupt). The portrait depicts a reclining nude and is a real Art Deco vibrant oil painting which was exhibited in Paris.

A beautiful portrait of a young woman during the war years and in excellent condition. This is a fine painting by a female British listed artist and a fine example of an early 20th century portrait painting.

Signed lower left.

Provenance.  Paris Salon 1934.                  
                                    
Condition. Oil on canvas/panel, image size 30 inches by 24 inches and in excellent condition.

Frame. Housed in a fine gallery frame, 38 inches  by 32 inches, in  excellent condition.


BIOGRAPHY.

Dora Crockett (1888-1953). Crockett  was known as a flower, landscape and portrait painter. In the 1930's Crockett and her husband Count Eric Lewenhaupt lived at 72 Ladbrooke Rd, London. She had a studio at Lansdowne House, Berkeley Square, Westminster. She was taught by Henry Tonks.  She is buried in Harting churchyard, West Sussex.
 
Crockett exhibited: Goupil Gallery 72, Liverpool 1, Royal Academy 2, Royal Institute 1, Royal Society of British Artists 1, Royal Institute of Painters in Oil 3, as well as in the Paris Salon.
