A genuine Victorian County map of Cumberland.
Taken from "Letts Popular County Atlas" first published in 1884.

A fine map with attractive printed colour, the railways marked in red, and with a detailed key that includes features like dangerous hills on the roads, and market days. Also details of manufactured goods, etc. together with interesting statistics like the population (in 1881), number of inhabited houses, paupers, etc. Coast Guard and Life Boat stations marked on the coast.

In fact a splendid picture of the County as it was towards the end of the Victorian period.

Size:  the sheet measures 39.5cms x 32cms.
Condition: Cut close to the borders. Centrefold as issued, with archival tape supporting it. Evidence of glue on the back, not affecting the front.
