Ogden's issued a series of Guinea Gold cards. which appeared from 1894 to 1907 covering events, personalities and influences of that time. Thousands of these were produced on subjects like Boer War and Boxer Rebellion personalities, weapons, transport, actresses, racehorces, sportsmen and many more, with varying designs.

Beginning in 1875 in USA and in 1887 in the UK, Cigarette Cards are trade cards issued by Tobacco manufacturers to stiffen cigarette packaging and advertise cigarette brands. It was John Player & Sons in 1893 that produced one of the first general interest sets. Thomas Ogden soon followed in 1894. In 1906, Ogden's produced a set of football cards depicting footballers in their club colours, in one of the first full-colour sets. Each set of cards typically consisted of 25 or 50 related subjects, sometimes more. They were discontinued in order to save paper during WWII and never fully reintroduced thereafter.
