Panels #1 (John Benson, 1979)  The Spirit -- Eisner/Feiffer/Griffith NM  **NEW**
      32 pages. b&w. 8 1/2 x 11

Brand new. In storage for over 30 years.

Panels #1 begins with a Will Eisner Spirit cover, and features: Will Eisner, in an 18 page reminiscence, discusses his formative years, his aspirations, the days of the comic book "shops" in the forties, the artists he worked with, and his creation of the Spirit; extensively illustrated with rare Eisner art. Also in this issue, Jules Feiffer talks candidly about his apprenticeship to Eisner, and discusses many of specific Spirit stories and his own comic strip, Clifford. Finally, Bill Griffith, creator of Zippy the Pin Head, takes "A Sour Look at the Comix Scene."

About me:  I've been collecting for nearly 50 years and have derived considerable pleasure from my collections.  Some 30-35 years ago I even tried my hand at selling books at local conventions and (briefly) operated a storefront.  When that proved unsuccessful I pursued a more mundane career, packed away all remaining stock and stored it in a spare room away from dust and humidity.  I continued to expand my own collection over the years, but have reached a point in my life where it's time to start divesting myself of some of these treasures.  I hope to find new homes for my "precious"es so that they may continue to be appreciated.  When I present an item as "brand new" it will be from my old stock.  The most I will claim for items from my personal collection is "like new."  I will try to describe each item accurately.  If you have questions, feel free to ask.  I will do my best to answer, provide additional photos, etc.
