VERY RARE Large Antique "Southern Pacific Company Sunset, Ogden, & Shasta Routes" Photo Poster == Mounted Railroad Detectives in the redwoods -- including one woman officer (indicated by finger in 5th photo) == Printed on fairly thin paper, probably about 30 lb. paper, it's pretty delicate -- upper left corner came off when I replaced broken back panel with heavy cardboard (piece is at bottom by logo, not missing), and it has crinkles == Printed logo lower left as shown == In antique frame, fair condition, some damage/missing beading == Overall size 23" x 28" == From West Texas Estate == We Ship Worldwide! == NOTE: We believe this image is circa 1890-1900 -- in examining the image closely, the senior officer (indicated in last picture) bears remarkable resemblance to George E. Gard (1843-1904), who lead the successful capture of the Sontag-Evans gang of Southern Pacific train robbers in 1883 -- he was Chief of Police in Los Angeles 1880-1881, then Sheriff of Los Angeles County 1884-1886 -- we are searching for information on his possible further railroad employment after his term as sheriff ended in 1886 -- Marshall Gard (as he is referred to in SP history) would have been 52 in 1885, about the apparent age of the officer pictured -- we would welcome any information! ===
