This is an amazing German Art Deco Area Rug fabricated from 1920's Women's Wool Bathing Suits. It is outstanding in design, color, and meticulous execution. It measures 24 inches by 33 inches. And for the collector my suggestion is that it should be framed and preserved in that fashion. All of my rare textiles are framed and make for outstanding decoration. And very affordable considering equivalent paintings from this period that demonstrate such a high level of design talent. In all my years, I have never seen another one like it and I have been a collector for a very long time. What is truly wonderful also, is that this textile has a folk quality about it. Think of American Colonial Hooked Rugs from the 1800's. Although it is German Deco, we had this rug draped over an Eames Sofa in a room of American folk carvings. Just an amazing item. There is one small issue along the border you can see in one of the photos which can easily be taken care of. It is only about an inch long and a few stitches will make it fine. However I would just frame it the way it is. That's the beauty of antiques. This beautiful item is being offered from our collection for the first time.
