Canon Rebel XSi (EOS 450D / Kiss X2) 715nm Standard IR converted camera!
Infrared photography opens up an unseen world of beauty and never-ending surprise. Up for bid is a Canon Rebel XSi (also known as the EOS 450D and Kiss X2). The internal IR cut filter has been removed and replaced with a 715nm longpass filter. This filter blocks most visible light and allows near IR and IR light to be recorded by the sensor.
The results? You’ll have a camera that will capture infrared images without the need for long exposures or the need for a tripod. With the standard 715nm filter in place, this camera is sensitive to a tiny bit of visible light in the red spectrum. The results are just enough color saturation for false color IR. You can use the cameras built in B+W mode to produce BnW IR captures from the camera or convert to BnW with the included software. The first picture in my listing is what your image will look like once a custom white balance has been set and with the blue and red channels swapped, with brightness, and contrast adjusted. I send a tutorial and the software fo do this.
The Canon XSi inherits many of the processing functions from the 40D including 14-bit A-D conversion but offers a bump in resolution over its EOS 40D big brother (12.2 versus 10.1 megapixels). The XSi offers a choice between 2 Live View modes, phase-detect and contrast-detect for mission critical focus each time. This camera will accept all EF and EF-S mount lenses.
The camera’s condition: The camera is mechanically perfect. The viewfinder is clear. The LCD has no dead pixels and the rear TFT cover is in very good condition. Cosmetically, the body’s condition is excellent but with evidence of use and wear (but please see my pictures as they are my description for the cosmetics). The autofocus has been adjusted and tested and is GUARANTEED f/1.8 sharp with the 50mm Mk2 and will likely perform similarly with other Canon lenses.
