WWI & WWII Single Medals to The Creagh Family

a) WWI British War Medal impressed “4758 PTE H. Creagh 54 BN. A.I.F.”

Herbert Creagh enlisted on the 11th of Sept. 1915 into the 15th Reifnrocement for the 2nd Bn. Then transferred to the 54th Bn. On the 20th of April 1916.

Proceeding overseas to France on the 15th of March 1917, he finally joined his unit on the 12th of April 1917.

Herbert died of wounds on the 18th of May 1917 from a gunshot injury to the head he received three days prior.

b) WWI British War Medal impressed “6723 J. Creagh 3BN A.I.F.”

Jack Creagh enlisted on the 7th of Aug. 1916 and stated prior service of three and a half years with the Senior Cadets.

He was probably unaware of his Brother’s death when he joined his unit in France on the 21st of May 1917, this being just 3 days after Herbert Creagh’s death.

Jack was returned to Australia on the 28th of Feb. 1918 and soon after was discharged as being “under age”.

c) WWII War Medal impressed “N207413 A.F.R. Creagh”

Likely a family related medal as they all came together, but no details were found of this particular group.
