This is a pack of 5 2SC1845 high gain, low noise transistors which are ideal for replacing the notoriously noisy NPN signal transistors fitted by Akai to their 4000D and 4000DS reel to reel tape recorders as well as to later models such as the GX630D. In these tape recorders it will be a perfect replacement for the 2SC458 and 2SC945 transistor also often used by Akai in the 1970's (but note that the maximum collector current for the 2SC1845 is 50mA so not a direct equivalent in other applications).

If your Akai reel to reel tape recorder sounds hissy, like a waterfall or crackles and pops during record or playback then it would benefit from having all the audio signal path transistors changed for these 2SC1845 parts, but do note that these tape recorders are also fitted with a very early form of op amp chip by Sanyo called the LD3141 and this (now unavailable) chip also causes major hiss and crackle problems.

These transistors have a maximum CE Voltage of 120V, ICmax 50mA, low output capacitance of typically 1.6pF, an hfe figure of typically 250, and a max power dissipation of 500mW.

Viewed from the underside with the flat to the bottom, the pinout is left pin Base, middle pin Collector, right pin Emitter.

Supplied as a pack of 5.

If you are ordering from more than one of our listings, note that we can offer you reduced combined shipping ONLY if you use "Buy it now" on all items then request a total from seller BEFORE making payment. We will then send you a combined shipping eBay invoice to pay. This is NOT possible if you have already paid for any of the items you are ordering.

Customers in Italy please note that due to the high number of orders that vanish and never arrive whilst in the hands of the Italian postal system, we will only send orders under £22 in value to Italy via standard untracked airmail. If your items total more than £22, please arrange to pay for tracked and signed shipping so that your order may be shipped safely and securely. If this option is not offered in the listing, please use the following listing to pay the extra cost of this.
Tracked & Signed supplemental charge to Italy

Also note that orders sent to Italy may take MUCH longer than eBays estimate to be delivered and, whilst some orders do arrive within a week or two, many orders sent to Italy are not delivered for three or perhaps even four weeks! This is entirely outside our control, as we ship within two working days and once your order is in the hands of Poste Italiane, there is nothing we can do to get it to you any faster.

Please DO NOT send messages with the title "Item not received" as these open complaint cases against us and damage our seller rating! Instead please use the general "Other" heading to ask about your delivery if several weeks have passed.

Lastly, all please note that when eBay asks you "Did the item arrive on or before" their estimated delivery date, it also damages our seller rating if you answer "No", so bear in mind that we always ship within two working days, so if you answer "No" because your local postal service (especially in Italy!) has taken weeks to deliver, you are punishing us, not them!

Thank you all for your kind consideration of the above and remember that we will always do our very best to sort out any problems or questions you may have related to your order if you contact us using the "Contact Seller" and (if the choice is given) "Other" ask a question of seller options.
