Directions for Use

Preparation

• Ensure your vehicle is parked on a level surface.
• Engage the parking brake for safety.
• Gather necessary tools: a funnel, a clean cloth, and Lubegard Platinum Universal ATF Protectant.
• Check your vehicle's owner manual for the total transmission fluid capacity and specific ATF type requirements.

Warm Up the Engine

• Start the engine and let it idle until it reaches its normal operating temperature. This ensures the transmission fluid is warm and can mix well with the protectant.

Locate the Transmission Dipstick

• Open the bonnet and locate the transmission dipstick. In most vehicles, it's near the back of the engine bay, usually marked with a bright colour like yellow or red.

Check Fluid Level

• With the engine running, pull out the transmission dipstick, wipe it clean with the cloth, reinsert it fully, then pull it out again to check the fluid level. This ensures you have an accurate reading of the current fluid level.

Add Lubegard Platinum Protectant

• Using the funnel, slowly pour 1 oz. (29.6 mL) of Lubegard Platinum Protectant per 1 qt. (1 L) of transmission fluid capacity. For example, if your transmission holds 8 qts. (7.5 L), add 8 oz. (236.8 mL) of Lubegard Platinum.
• Pour the protectant directly into the transmission fluid fill tube.

Recheck Fluid Level

• After adding the protectant, recheck the fluid level using the dipstick to ensure it is within the recommended range. Be careful not to overfill.

Run Through Gears

• With the engine still running, cycle through all the gears (P, R, N, D) while keeping your foot on the brake. This helps to circulate the protectant throughout the transmission.

Final Steps

• Recheck the fluid level one last time and top off if necessary. Ensure the dipstick is fully inserted and secure the dipstick tube.
• Close the bonnet securely and ensure all tools are removed from the engine bay.
• Take your vehicle for a short drive, allowing the transmission to go through its paces. This helps the Lubegard Platinum Protectant to fully integrate with the transmission fluid, providing immediate benefits.
