An original antique map of the WEST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE (Eboracensis comitatus pars occidentalis) by Saxton & Hole. Published in Camden's Britannia in 1607, this map is the earliest printed map of the West Riding and is example and is the 1st edition with verso text. The map is framed (510x460mm), double glazed and mounted (printed area 315x260 mm) with later hand colour. It features a scrolled title cartouche, mileage scale, map dividers and compass rose and shows in great detail the county's settlements (towns and villages), rivers, hills, woodland and estates. The map has good margins and is a bold impression in excellent condition. To minimise shipping costs the map will be sold out-of-frame to international buyers.
