Introduction to horses and horse riding

READY SET TROT - Introducing children 5-12 years of age to horses and horse riding

Ready Set Trot is an entry-level program for children with 4 certificate levels. It’s a great, fun way to learn basic horse skills and a safer start to horse riding.

TROT CANTER GALLOP - for 12 years and older (free helmet)

This three-part program is designed for beginner to advanced riders wanting to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Participants learn the fundamentals of good horsemanship, important aspects of riding technique and etiquette, and effective application of safe horse practice - all in a fun, immersive environment.

Trot (included if the 12yrs and over selected)

Providing beginner riding and horse management skills, this is suggested for all keen would-be riders aged 12 and over. You’ll learn about horses, how to care for them, safe rider behaviour, and the type of equipment you’ll need to ride a horse.

Canter

Providing intermediate riding and horse management skills for riders 12+, particularly those with easy access to a horse (although many Riding Centres can also provide a horse if needed). The Canter program helps riders develop riding etiquette in individual and group settings, understand saddling, and further develop their understanding of horse care.

Gallop

Advanced riding and horse management skills for competitive riders, including those moving into coaching.

Gallop includes training on dressage riding techniques and riding over poles, as well as other advanced techniques.

Fees for the practical component are set by individual riding centres.
