EARLY GERMAN WOOD BREAD PLATE

This is a nice old German wooden bread plate.


It has deep nicely hand carved design with an Eagle carved in the center. 

There is German lettering carved around the rim in German,  "Unser Taglich Brot Gib Uns Heute" , which translates to say like "Our Daily Bread Give Us Today".

This is deep like a bowl for serving the bread. It is in very clean and nice condition.

The board is stained a dark Walnut color with the carving of the Eagle down to the natural wood. The lettering is carved to leave the lettering dark and the background natural emphasizing the lettering beautifully.

This plate measures approx 11" diameter X 1-1/4" deep.

A really great early original authentic piece to add to your collection or decor.

This piece is from my personal collection. I purchased it in Europe on buying trips about 25 years ago. At that time these bread boards were still available and I was able to put together a wonderful collection of them. I am downsizing now and offering some of them for sale. Most are English, but I did happen to find this German one, which is a plate rather than a board.

• Great for bread or beautiful just as a wall decoration.
