ERA VISCOUNT 5 Lever Mortice lock (Please read all of the information below prior to orderding.

Ideal lock to upgrade from 2 or 3 Lever Locks for additional security. Perfect for replacement and new build projects. Offers long service in demanding situations and is designed to resist hacksawing as well as lock picking. Not British Standard

Choose either 5 Lever Sashlock or 5 Lever Deadlock, Size, then colour.

Ideal security upgrade from existing 2 or 3 Lever locks (Additional work required to existing mortice hole when upgrading).

Please note these locks are NOT British Standard (BS) Mortice Locks...if you are fitting to a Front or Back door you should use a BS Lock.. if you want a British Standard Lock, please go to our listing ID 111174305409 to purchase this type of lock.

This lock should replace most other 5 Lever locks - Like Yale or ERA / UNION. Some additional carpentry may be required if replacing other branded locks due to minor differences in face plate size and screw hole positions.

Once you have read the Fitting guides, then please choose Lock Body, Case Size and finish from the drop down list - please read below carefully which i hope will help you choose the correct lock prior to purchasing.

Fitting a Mortice lock to a NEW Timber Door:

Please refer to your insurance document to ensure you choose and purchase the correct lock - you may need to upgrade to a BS3621 Lock.
Once you know the type of lock then it is personal preference whether to use 2.5" or 3" - however, if using a Mortice Knob on the door, it is usually recommended to use a 3" lock to allow free movement of the operating hand between handle and frame.
Fitting a lock into a new door requires precision woodworking skills and you should employ a Tradesmen to fit the lock if you are not comfortable doing this yourself.

Replacing a Mortice lock in an existing Timber Door:

Check for any Branded identification, Security logos, such as BS Kitemark or indication of No. of levers on the face plate of the lock - This will help in identifying whether you may need additional work to fit the replacement, and whether this listing is suitable for you.
Refer to your Insurance document to ensure you have the correct lock currently fitted - you may need to upgrade to a BS 3621 5 Lever lock

A guide on how to choose the correct lock from the drop down list:-

Lock Type

Sashlock features a latch (Situated at the top of lock body) and operated by a Lever handle (not supplied) and is locked with key (located at bottom section of lock)
Deadlock is operated and locked with a Key only - the lock case is smaller in height

Case Size

2.5"/ 64mm Lock Case - This is the overall depth of lock case from faceplate (plate you look at in the door) to back of Lockcase. The backset measurement is @44mm and is measured from the faceplate to the centre of the keyhole.
3.0" / 76mm Lock Case - This is the overall depth of lock case from faceplate (plate you look at in the door) to back of Lockcase, The backset measurement is @57mm and is measured from the face plate to the centre of the keyhole.
