EARLY PRIMITIVE GERMAN RYE STRAW WOVEN BASKET 

This is a nice old German basket.

It is woven in spirals of rye straw that is laced with thinly cut wood strips.

These tie each layer to the next in a tight weave.

It has a hanger woven into the design to allow it to be hung.

The very top row has a piece about 4" worn out at the end of the weave.

This type of basket was used to proof bread dough before baking.

It is a beautiful unique basket for display.

This basket measures approx 11-3/4" diameter X 4-1/2" high.

A really great early original authentic piece to add to your collection or decor.
