For sale is an absolutely phenomenal sounding Slingerland kit from the 60's. This is a players kit that has recently been retired from studio and live performance work through our shop. It has an incredible open, rounded, warm tone. This kit rocks live and is magical under microphones.
A kicking 14x 22 Bass Drum, 9x 13 Rack tom and 16x 16 Floor tom. The 13" is marked 1966, the kick seems to be of a similar age and the 16" floor tom is also 60's but a year or two later (milky brown interior finish). No badge on the kick or 13". Black/Brass Niles on the 16" The toms have Slingerland stick saver hoops on batter sides but newer triple flanged on reso heads. Bearing edges are nice rounded over baseball bat style and look untouched from the factory. The original diamond mount on the 13" has been replaced with a Ludwig leaving the original holes visible. The bass drum also had a Ludwig plate added.
The chrome on the kit is in nice shape on the kick and floor tom. The 13" is in good condition but has a little more oxidation but will likely clean up nicely. The wrap on all drums is tight and in good shape, with the exception of a small lift on the seam of the 13". The wrap has all the expected spider cracks, dings and scratches that these satin flame kits are known for. There are also extra holes in the bass drum that have been filled with carriage bolts (ala Sonor). Slingerland spurs and floor tom legs work as they should. Non-Slingerland tension bolts added to the spurs for ease of use. There is no tom arm so the 13" needs to be basketed, put on a rim or a tom arm added. (Ludwig plate does not have a tension bolt).
