Up for sale is a one of a kind, original,  historically accurate painting of the USS Macedonian. She was launched in 1808 as the 38 gun frigate HMS Macedonian. On October 25, 1812, she had the misfortune to encounter the larger 44 gun USS United States and was captured. Taken into the United States Navy, she served until 1828. This painting depicts her about 1815, after all of the battle damage had been repaired and she had been sparred in the American style. There is in the National Archives a drawing showing the exact details of how her sails were sown from strips of canvas. So it has been possible to show her with her sails precisely as they must have been.  I have spent thirty years unearthing the appearance of these magnificent sailing ships.  Sold unframed. The image of the warship itself measures approximately 17 inches wide overall.  The photograph is of the actual painting and should answer most questions but if you have others please send me a message.

I do have 100% positive feedback on over 200 transactions and have every intention of keeping it... so you can purchase with confidence.
