Mazda Rotary Engine Pilot Bearing Remover

The Rotary engine needle bearing pilot bearing can be a REAL pain to remove. It really should be changed at every clutch change. We have seen eccentric shafts destroyed when trying to remove the bearing (obviously without the tool). That is REALLY bad when the engine is still assembled.

Yes, there are cheaper remover tools out there - most do not work at all. The main problem with them is the needle bearing is caged, and the outer "cage" (which is thin) MUST also be removed, and those tools will not grip that outer sleeve / cage correctly.

Btw - we bought and tried that ~$50 one from Harbor Freight. Honest answer on five eccentric shafts: It removed two with medium labor, it destroyed two (pulled all the needles out but left the outer sleeve / cage) BUT we were able to finish the removal with our correct tool), the fifth one was destroyed so bad it would have needed to be ground out. We have heard of other methods that some people have had success with -- Your call - we know this tool is not inexpensive.

With our tool it should take less than 15 seconds! Insert end, tighten long part into end, 1-3 slaps with slap hammer and it is out.
