Racinet's fabulous "l'Ornement Polychrome" showcased, through an extensive series of fine chromolithographs, the development of the decorative arts and ornamental pattern work since early times. The plates depicted decorative patterns, designs and motifs, taken from interiors, ceramics, fabrics, manuscripts, frescos, mosaics and architectural features. They covered diverse historical periods and cultures from around the world. Racinet intended his work to serve as inspiration for interior designers and decorators.

This series of antique polychromolithographic plate prints are form the work of Auguste Racinet's L'Ornament Polychrome. Published circa 1885 these exquisite prints are produced with gold and silver and high definition colours. The plates depict decorative patterns, designs and motifs, taken from interiors of diverse buildings such as places of worship across many religions, ceramics, fabrics, manuscripts, frescos, mosaics, architectural features and wall hangings. They covered diverse historical periods and cultures from around the world and they are striking in their detail and beauty.
These prints serve as an insipration for home decorators, designers, decorators and interior designers.
Where available the print will be accompanied by the corresponding descriptive text - in French. Each supportive document and each print has a tiny motif that confirms that each plate and each text belong together (see main images)
These, on offer here, are GENUINE antique prints. Modern reproductions simply do not and cannot do justice to these wonderful plates which glisten with Gold and Silver highlights and rich colours.
