Resin FAQ’s
How much area will the resin cover??
Online volume calculators are best
Resin is heavier than water so 1kg of resin gives approx 900ml
For example 100cm x 100cm, thickness of 2mm requires approx 200ml in volume
Does the mix have to be accurate?
Yes
it does, we provide a syringe for accuracy
You can ruin a mix by either putting too much or not
enough hardener in.
How long does the resin take to harden?
Depends on lots of variables, Thickness of the pour, hardener added and ambient
tempertures. The resin self generates heat ( exotherm ) and this then
speeds up the curing process. For thin sections the heat is lost which
means it takes longer. Cures in winter will take longer than in summer. we advise always use in a warm area for best results
Can I use this resin for Wood Turning?
Yes although our clr clear epoxy resin is a option option.
Can I use the resin for Art coverings?
Yes this resin is suitable to coat artwork.
Can i do thick castings?
Yes
but multi pours will be required. The max suggested thickness in
1 pour is 10-15mm , For any
subsequent pours wait until first pour has
stopped producing heat approx 3-6
hours
Can I use the resin for work tops and projects such as penny tables?
Yes
the resin will work great for that application. Best results
do a base coat and then sand back, Further coats can be
polished up using wet and dry paper, you can use our cutting compounds P300 and Polish P200. YOU TUBE our videos as a resource, they provide
excellent step by step instructions.
