This is one hand painted antique victorian china bowl. The fifth photo is of a plate that were also purchased in this large lot of hand painted china done by 2 people both with the last name Rowell. This bowl and plate is included to show you the signature and date.

All the china that has a manufacturer's mark is French. There are no chips or crazing. There can be a few rubbed gold spots. Please check photos carefully. These came from near San Francisco.
The bowl is 6 inches wide and 2 inches deep.

About a half dozen of the pieces have the name and DATE. All pieces appear to have been painted by Rowell in 1894. There are two people named Rowell who painted these plates. I am showing a hand painted bowl by C.L. Rowell that is signed and dated to show the provenance of these pieces. This bowl has a faded signature. On back the gold paint tended to rub off. Most of the china is marked made in France so I would guess this is also French porcelain - from 1894.

China painting was a popular Victorian pastime starting in about 1880 to 1920. The Rowells would have been Victorian amateur painters. There are no chips or crazing. There can be a few rubbed gold spots. Please check photos carefully.
