Brilliant orange (with some deep red) poppies with gold highlights stand out brightly on the white and glossy porcelain. This set for four is absolutely stunning, the colors, the condition, the design, all make for near perfect serving pieces (one cup has a small chip on the rim).  There is tea service which includes a lidded pot with handle (detached for shipping), four cups, four snack / salad / dessert plates, four lidded rice / soup bowls, and one small appetizer / sushi dish / tray.  OMC (Ogatiri Merchantile Company) was well known for their porcelain and stoneware products imported from Japan until the early 90's.  Anything with the official OMC sticker is vintage, the company is no longer in business as OMC any longer.

There are so many Otagiri items available out there, but might I say, these are of exceptional color - the oranges and golds on white is a bit unique and stands out among the more muted colors, especially the stoneware.  They are also of exceptional design - the poppies are bold and their design simplistic but so very attractive, while still being organic.  And as mentioned, these pieces are in excellent vintage condition with the exception of the one chip (see photo please), they appear to have never been used, or at the very least, used very minimally.

This set would display very nicely, but I am a champion of using things we love and this set would be so much fun for special evenings when you're serving Asian cuisine, but anything goes...tomato soup and grilled cheese, French onion soup and breadsticks?  Your choice, but of course, don't forget the tea.  The cups do not have handles and are very comforting and sturdy.  Just lovely, everything about this set is appealing and makes me want to serve three of my favorite people something really delicious to match the beauty of this fine Otagiri porcelain.   Wrapped carefully and with extra padding to insure its safety, it'll come in a large box, with insurance.  A bit more costly to purchase and ship, but well worth it!

The plates are 8" across, bowls are about 6" across and the lids are 5-3/8" (they fit on a dropped lip below the edge of the bowls' rim), the cups are 2-3/4" tall, and the teapot is about 4-1/2" tall and about 7-1/4" wide from end of spout to back (the base is 3-1/2").  The little tray, sushi server is 7-3/4" x 4-1/2"...
