Spanish colonial style, hand tooled and embossed leather petaca (document box)

with hand forged iron hasp, strap hinges, lock-plate.

The embossed and dyed hand tooled leather features colonial iconography of birds, peppers and foliate motifs.

I believe the piece is most likely a 20th century artisanal production (Peruvian?)

Box is 8" x 5½" x 5½"
