"Kromex existed at least as early as 1947, though it seems to have been most popular in the 1950s. It made kitchen products from surplus aluminum and brass shell castings. This particular platter was part of a Kromex line of products called VOGUE. Kromex products were sold at Montgomery Ward and Sears. The Kromex platter was probably used to serve small snacks or candies at parties or gatherings. Kromex kitchenware was valued in its time for its clean lines and space age aesthetic."
