Here we have a spectacular original artwork "The Looking Glass" shop sign. I absolutely adore this - it's one of my favourite pieces I've ever owned. It is double sided, signed and dated Jon Clark, 77. One side is slightly worse for wear down to poor storage in a barn over a number of years. I do not know it's history unfortunately, I am local to Anglesey and was told it came from a local barn. 20 minutes down the road is the seaside town of Llandudno where there is a strong connection to Alice & Wonderland. In 1861 Alice Pleasance Liddell (the real Alice in Wonderland) was on holiday in the area. Lewis Carroll was inspired by young Alice (aged 8 at the time) and she is the basis for the infamous storybook Alice In Wonderland.

This sign is presumably from a local business, possibly a pub, antiques/curiosities or toy shop - I do not know. Either way it's a stunning sign, it's beautifully painted, it's so colourful, vibrant, fantasy/fairytale like. It shows a young girl looking into a large mirror with a beautiful sunset in the background among houses and other drawings. A beautiful butterfly is displayed to the top centre and old fashioned sign writing to the centre. It's a fantastic size measuring a whopping 46 inches by 32.5 inches, weighing approximately 20-30kgs!! The two paitings are presumably done on board and sit behind a wooden and perspex frame, the top bracket is made from cast iron. This would make a wonderful shop window display item, look beautiful in any setting, a perfect interior design piece. This is the only one you'll ever see so get it or regret it! DELIVERY INFORMATION:  I will be delivering this mirror personally due to size/weight/value in order to prevent damage. Unfortunately I will be unable to deliver to Ireland, Northern Ireland, London or any of the obscure Isles. Sorry no international postage on this one :( If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
