How to apply
Cleaning of the area
Put on suitable gloves. Follow the instructions in the material safety data sheet for the cleaner that you use.
• Make sure the surface which you are applying the VHB tape is thoroughly cleaned using an alcohol-based cleanser and allow to fully dry.
• Remove tape from sheet and place where required. Press tape firmly for 10-20 seconds. As this is pressure sensitive tape it does requite pressure to start the bonding process.
• Make sure there is no bubbles when on the required surface.
• Once mounted remove the branded red film at a corner (if you can’t remove this use a sharp point to lift the corner up)
• Apply other material on to this side and once again firmly put pressure for 10-20 seconds.
If you have poor adhesion this is often a result of the area still having residue and requires more cleaning or it’s on to an unsuitable surface.
This tape does not feel as sticky as you may think but acrylic adhesive works with bonding over time. This then produces a bond which is a lot stronger than any rubber adhesive tapes. 3M™ have perfected this over the years and are still the biggest adhesive tape manufacturer.
