An original antique, engraving of the Watering Place (Abreuvoir) in front of the PALAIS ROYALE MARLY near Paris. The engraving (Angier), based on a painting by Jacques Rigaud, was published by I Harris at Cornhill, London, around 1780. The image measures approximately 460x240mm; is unframed and unmounted; and has original colour. The engraving belongs to the Vue d'Optique genre, popular in the late 18th century with 'armchair' travellers. With the use of an optical device known as a  zagroscope the print provides the illusion of depth and perspective. There are several closed marginal tears (two which extend slightly onto the printed area) but otherwise the print is in good condition.
