MacDill Air Force Base (KMCF) is a United States Air Force base located 4 miles from downtown Tampa, Florida.  The base is home to the 6th Air Refueling Wing (6 ARW) assigned to the Eighteenth Air Force (18 AF) of the Air Mobility Command (AMC).  MacDill AFB was established in 1939 as Southeast Air Base Tampa, it was later renamed in honor of Colonel Leslie MacDill a World War I aviator in the US Army Air Service.
