An original copperplate, engraved map of LINCOLNSHIRE (A Mapp (sic) of ye County of Lincolne), published in 1673 in Richard Blome's Britannia. The map is framed (420x475mm) and mounted (printed area 270x325mm) with later hand colour. The verso is blank. This decorative and impressive county map features a scrolled title cartouche, scale, four sailing ships, compass, a list of wapontakesand an elaborate dedication to the Earl of Lindsey, with coat-of-arms. The map contains a wealth of geographical detail including rivers, hills, towns, villages and estates. The map - one of Blome's more impressive county maps - is lightly and evenly aged toned and in very good condition. NB owing to prohibitive shipping costs the map will be sold out-of-frame and out-of-mount to international buyers.
