Two interesting items of music ephemera, both relating to John F Stratton & Co.'s Russian Gut Violin Strings.

Both are advertising material. One a postcard-sized image of the Thomas Grand Orchestra at Gilmore's Garden, with testimonials on the back.
The other is a sheet of four pages, with further testimonials. Those that can vouch for the "super-excellence" of these strings include the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Germany (the violinists listed), the "Parsifal" Orchestra at Bayreuth, the Teatro San Carlo Orchestra in Naples (violinists listed), and the Theodore Thomas Orchestra in Boston. All seem to agree that "their durability and clearness of tone is remarkable." Durability, with a gut string, was of course an important factor.

Size: the sheet measures approx. 24.5cms x 16.5cms. The postcard, approx. 14cms x 8cms.
Condition: Overall, in a good condition, the paper sheet a little torn at the edges. Please study the photographs.

Postage: £2.00 within the UK. £4.00 to Europe, £8.00 to USA etc.
