Overview
The Dobsonian telescopes derive their name from John Dobson, an amateur astronomer renowned for devising a remarkably simple yet efficient telescope. The primary feature is its large aperture, achieving impressive functionality at an economical cost. Dobson's innovative approach involved mounting a Newtonian telescope on an easily maneuverable alt-azimuth mount, eliminating the need for time-consuming alignments.
Building upon Dobson's design, Sky-Watcher has enhanced the Dobsonian telescope by introducing a collapsible system, facilitating easy storage and transport. The inclusion of three metal bars, utilizing an auto-lock spring-loaded system, simplifies the setup process, requiring only one person to fully extend the telescope. The telescope's rigidity preserves mirror collimation, while the tension control system ensures balance, eliminating the need for heavy counterweights.
To operate the Sky-Watcher Collapsible Dobsonian, one simply extends the tube, uses the finderscope to locate desired celestial objects, and revels in the superior light-gathering capabilities of the telescope. To enhance the user experience further, these telescopes come equipped with a 2" Crayford focuser and a focuser locking screw.
Sky-Watcher Telescopes In late 1999 the Sky-Watcher brand was born in Canada. Today Sky-Watcher is recognised as being one of the world's largest telescope suppliers. With a mission statement like the following, it is no wonder they are one of the world's biggest brands for night gazing.
'We believe that beginners' first scopes should be not only affordable but also of the highest quality. Looking through a telescope for the first time is a magical moment and we believe in magic! We're called "Sky-Watcher": our desire is to see the worldwide community of skywatchers grow, until, one day, every person in the world can be a part of our community!
