Capacitor (permanent or start-up) of 11 µF (uF) special for SOMFY or SIMU motor of roller shutter, garage door or awning.

Application : to replace the capacitor (called permanent or start-up) on all types of Somfy or Simu roller shutter, awning or garage door motors.  

Examples of fault symptoms : Iwhen your engine stops after a few cm on ascent, or you have to help it by hand to climb, or it shows weaknesses, or it makes an abnormal noise... the capacitor is worn out. By changing it, your engine will become like new again! Another possible symptom, the motor does not move at all, neither up nor down, this can also come from the capacitor in this case. 

Specific capacitor for SOMFY or SIMU motor : 

  • My capacitors are specially designed to operate with SOMFY or SIMU motors. You just have to determine the value you need. On your old capacitor, the value in µF (uf) is written on it. The model offered in this ad is a 11µF (uF). For other value check out my other listings in my shop.
  • For the rest (class A/B/C, standard, tolerance, etc…), it doesn't matter, my capacitors are compatible with all Somfy or Simu brand motors.

Capacitor terminals at 3 mm (2.8 mm exactly) :

  • The capacitor has 2 small connection terminals 3 mm wide (2.8 mm to be precise). There is no branching sense (no polarity), you can plug in any way. These are the same lug widths as the stock lugs Somfy or Simu. To connect a pod, it fits in force; you hold tight and force yourself, and it goes into the female motor terminal.

Dimensions : 

  • Capacitor diameter: 35mm. The capacitor is sometimes a little bigger than the original one but it fits perfectly in the motor tube because there is at least 42 mm inside diameter in the Somfy or Simu motor series of this power.
  • Capacitor length without terminals: 68mm. 
  • Total length of the capacitor with the lugs: 78mm. There is room in the length of the motor tube.

  • When disassembling your motor, you have certainly seen a retaining foam stuck around your old capacitor. As a replacement or in addition, you can glue mine around the body of the new capacitor (1 strip glued at the top and the other at the bottom, or in the middle), this makes it possible to stabilize the capacitor well and to wedge it in the motor tube . You can also trap the incoming electrical wires of the terminals under the adhesive foam, to prevent the wires from moving.

Why choose a quality capacitor?

  • the capacitor plays an important role in a Somfy or Simu tubular motor. The capacitor produces a phase shift on one of the two motor coils, which generates a rotating magnetic field and torque, and rotates the motor shaft. If you choose a low-end capacitor (poor tolerance, unstable value over time, etc.), the phase shift will not be good, the motor will malfunction and it will break down again in the medium term.. So, you really have to put qualityé. Capacitor quality = extended motor life!
